Your talent is God’s gift to you…..what you do with it is your gift to God.
A few years ago we were just starting our retirement journey by checking an item off our bucket list which was visiting Quartzsite Arizona when I was blessed to discover my gift and love of making jewelry. We met some great people. There a friend and amazing artist asked me if I wanted to make one pair of earrings.
I enjoyed that learning experience so much that I made more. Soon I had more pairs of earrings than I had friends to give them away to. So I thought I’d try selling them at a few venues. I named my little business ColorMeHappy.
A year later, I became intrigued with wire wrapping and educating myself on the beautiful stones of the earth. So I watched a few YouTube videos and taught myself to wire wrap. Once I had the basics down, I developed my own style. The stone is truly the Star of the show so I want you to first see the stone and then the wire.
We enjoyed our few months in Quartzsite Arizona so much that we continue to winter there. There I replenish my stone inventory by either purchasing them at shows or cut and polishing them myself.
I joined the Gem and Mineral Club in Quartzsite where I’ve had the opportunity to add a number of different mediums to my jewelry selection. I’ve learned to cut and polish stone, design and make fused glass and to Flame Paint Copper.
The club is made up of a fantastic group of peeps from all over the world who volunteer their time to teach a variety of classes. Our non profit club contributes to educational scholarships via a variety of social fundraising events.
Designing jewelry fills me with peace and calm. Meeting people along my journey is an added joy.
