My work takes it’s inspiration from nature. Specifically, I am moved by the grain pattern, the feel, the density, the aroma, the color and the beauty of all types of wood. The time I spend with my hand and power tools shaping and assembling the wood.
Although I work with tropical and exotic woods, I am very sensitive to the issue of sustainability and no wood that is classified as endangered is used. The popularity of many exotic woods has left them vulnerable in their natural habitat. As a result, many species are now plantation grown or carefully managed, thereby allowing for limited availability at significant cost which helps to facilitate the recovery of threatened species.
